How to Test Batteries for their Humidity Tolerance?

 Batteries

The newly developed batteries in the market are surpassing other power sources on the ground of readiness and efficiency. We often hear extraordinary improvements in power source technologies, each delivering different benefits, but none are considered to be a satisfactory solution for today’s energy needs. On the contrary, Battery has many benefits over other energy sources. But it also has major limitations.

Being exposed to the outer environment, the battery is prone to get damaged by extreme climatic conditions. Among them, the most damaging factor is – Humidity. Batteries are sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. For instance, batteries can dry out quickly in a dry climate and in high humid weather, they can absorb moisture which can lead to shorter validity and leakage. Therefore, testing the temperature and humidity tolerance of battery is a must prior to delivering it to the consumer.

Programmable Temperature & Humidity Test Chamber provides a simulated environment having a controlled range of temperature and relative humidity. The chamber conditions are highly precise and are generated to test batteries for endurance, life expectancy and reactions.

The equipment complies with several national and international testing standards which makes it suitable for testing a wide range of materials coming from different sectors. The chamber offers a very flexible control over the testing parameters. One can set multiple test cycles with pre-set steps of rising and falling of temperature and relative humidity with respect to time. The entire program can be operated using HMI based touchscreen display. It enables setting test parameters, observing real-time test data, managing test data memory. The temperature cycle graph can be obtained on the screen for comparison study.

Humidity Test Chamber is made using reputed components having a long validity period. Two standard sized trays are placed in the chamber for sample placement. The Temperature ranges from – 40? to +150? and the Relative Humidity ranges from 20% to 98%RH. PU Foam Insulation provided to ensure zero heat loss. The Test results can be obtained for external use through the USB portal.

The testing samples are placed inside the chamber on the tray and numerous cycle of test can be run as per the industry standards. Products which clear the test can be finalized for mass production.
