Standardized Carton Box Compression Test Machine

Carton box compression test is performed using compression test machines. However, using the right equipment will favour you more than using hi-tech equipment. By, ‘right’, we mean standardized to global test requirements and precise in test value output.

Box Compression Tester – Digital is one such testing equipment used to evaluate the behaviour of Carton Boxes on encountering vertical load. It applies compressive force on the specimen till the point it initiate buckling. The peak hold value is noted and the data used to categorize the specimen as per Quality Control requirements. The machine is designed as per international compression test standards of ASTM D642, ASTM D4169, TAPPI T804, ISO 12048, and JIS Z0212.

Main body size is customizable, it can be designed as per the box specimen to be tested. The standard dimensions are 450 x 450 mm, 600 x 600 mm and 1000 x 1000 mm. The test values are displayed on digital microprocessor based screen. It shows the Tare hold value, peak hold value and running force application. NABL certified Load cell equipped on the compression plate to distribute the force uniformly all over the specimen. This feature ensures accuracy in the test process. Safety measure are installed in the tester to deliver over travel protection. The base plate or the main test area where the box specimen is kept is made strong so that it can withstand the weight of distinct types of boxes. The display screen has LED lights in them for a clear vision even in low light conditions. The operation buttons are very smooth to touch unlike old fashioned press buttons. There is printer facility available with the machine which print outs the test report after a single test cycle. This feature is although optional, one can request for the customization.

To perform the test, place the box on the flat base platform and apply vertical load by moving the compression plate using motorized movement. A computer connectivity model is also available. The compression plate speed can be programmed for multi speed feature. Upward and downward safety limit switch for specifying travel length.
