The edge crush tester is provided with three different testing fixtures that allow the user to perform three different types of crushing tests on the test specimen. The instrument is best for providing accurate analysis of the crushing strength of the packaging materials and ensures stronger and better quality packaging containers. The instrument is provided with a digital readout that helps in the accurate reading of the test results. It can also store the peak value of the previous tests that have been performed on the instrument. Here we have listed some brief steps about how you can easily perform the edge crush test with Presto edge crush tester digital model.

  • First, you need to prepare the specimen by cutting a rectangular piece of the specimen from the sample you want to test. The size of the specimen should be 50 + 1 mm X 30 + 1 mm.
  • The specimen must be cut according to the dimension of the template given for the Edge Crush Test provided with the machine.
  • Now loosen the Allen bolts of the edge crush fixture provided with the machine with the help of an M-5 Allen key and insert the specimen between the fixtures and adjust the fixture gap according to the thickness of the sample.
  • By following these above steps, the specimen for the Edge crush test is ready.
  • After that, you can operate the machine by plugging the machine into a 5 amp, 220 Volts AC. Turn the machine on and place the specimen. To perform the edge crush test, place the edge crush test fixture with the erected edge of the specimen facing the upper compression plate.
  • Commence the test, once all the above steps have been followed.

In this way, you can easily perform the test using an edge crush tester. To get more information about this product, give us a call now.

Corrugated boxes are used to package products that are shipped around the world. It is important for businesses, which ship their products in corrugated boxes, to understand how strong these boxes are so they can determine which box will best suit their needs. A common test that should be taken for determining the compression strength of corrugated boxes is the edge crush test. This is one of the common tests that will help to determine which box suits best for your needs. The edge compression strength test helps you determine the quality of corrugated board before it is made into boxes. This way, companies can ensure that they deliver only high-quality products to customers.

The edge compression strength test determines the ability of the corrugated board to resist internal forces during transportation or storage conditions without sustaining any damage or deformation in its shape or structure. This test also ensures that there will be no breakage at these critical points when handling these containers by hand after they have been packed with goods inside them. The best thing, you will get with this testing machine is that this machine is easy to operate and contains a microprocessor-based display for having accurate testing results.

The edge compression strength is defined as the ability to resist edge compression when the box has been put underweight. The boxes with high compression strength are more compatible and durable as compared to boxes with low compression strength. Thus, by calculating the edge-wise compression strength of these boxes, you can easily determine, whether or not you should send the material in that box or not. The Presto edge compression tester offers reliable ways to determine the edge-wise compression strength of the materials. Corrugated boxes are made of a combination of paperboard, cardboard, or other material. When these are stacked together they can create edge compression, which is where the edges of the boards compress against each other. This can lead to holes in boxes and possible safety risks for packages being shipped. The best way to test this is by using an Edge Compression Tester (ECT) by Presto that features two flat plates on each end with a gauge built into it to measure how much pressure the box can handle.

This testing instrument will measure the edge-wise compression strength easily on the basis of several items like the dimension and size of the box and what material was used in its creation. Thus, to prevent the edge crush problem, you can effectively make use of this testing machine. It comes with a movable plate that applies pressure from the top.
