Test the Quality of Eyeglasses using Highly Advanced Polariscope

Eyeglasses or lenses has now been an integral part of today’s’ techno world. In a time where books have transformed into screens and friends’ get-together remained a mere virtual experience, the most affected organ of our body is the eyes. Therefore, the need for glass lenses and another form of protective eyewear are gradually increasing. To keep your anchor maintained in this growing market of eye lenses, it is important to raise your quality standards from the competitors. To achieve the same, minute glass and plastic flaws must be tested and detected using shard and advanced technologies. One of such testing instruments used for evaluation of eyeglasses quality is Polariscope.

Testing the Eye Lenses

Some materials, such as glass and plastics, are not normally doubly refractive but become so when they are internally stressed by external forces or by manufacturing processes. These materials exhibiting internal stresses are subject to failure by bursting or deformation. The improperly annealed glass may be internally stressed to an extent that small external forces, such as applied when glass lenses are mounted in eyeglass frames, would cause the lens to shatter. When held between the lenses of the testing machine, these stress areas can be seen as patches or bands of colour. Using this technique, the lenses can be compared to the amount of distortion, apparent through the birefringence revealed.

The testing apparatus

The Polariscope strain viewer is a high-quality testing instrument that is used for checking the quality of PET preforms, eyeglass wear and other plastic and glass products. It works on the principle that any change in the refractive index of a material indicates strain in that material which affects the quality of the material.

The natural light and polarized light are used to detect the defect in the product. Various properties like colours, transparency, appearance and much more are tested by using a normal source of light. The same sample is then tested under polarized light to determine various defects like crystallization, strain distribution, and bad transparency. Since testing device produces a large amount of polarized light, measuring the quality of the product is simple for the manufacturers. The stress patterns could be determined with the help of this light and help to detect the defects in the testing sample.

Few key features of the machine:

  • Two light intensity offered: Monochromatic light and Sodium Lamp.
  • Sharper and clearer optical viewing experience.
  • Standard Template for viewing a sample at 45° and 90°
  • Large Viewing glass area.
