Standard for TestingTensile Properties of Plastics

The standard method covers the determination of the tensile properties of reinforced and unreinforced plastics in the form of standard dumbbell shaped test samples when tested under defined circumstances of temperature, humidity, and testing machine speed. The standard method can be used for testing materials of any thickness up to 14 mm (0.55 inch) However, for testing samples in the form of thin sheets or films less than 1.0mm (0.04 inch) in thickness, ASTM D882 is a highly preferred method.
