Standard Test Method for Static and Kinetic Coefficients of Friction of Plastic Film and Sheeting

The standard method covers determination of the coefficient of initiating and sliding friction of plastic sheets and films when sliding over other substances or itself at specified test situations. The procedure allows the use of a moving sled with a stationary plane or a stationary sled with a moving plane. Both test procedures provide the same coefficient of friction values for a given specimen. The test method provides testing at different temperatures other than 23°C by heating only the plane while the sled is at zero temperature. As per the standards, slip properties are produced by chemical properties in some plastic films for ex- polyethylene. These properties have different degrees of compatibility with the film matrix.
