Material can be strong in compression, but weak when it is pulled apart. In order to determine the tear strength of a material, you need to use a tearing strength tester from Presto. This device uses two clamps which are attached with sample materials between them. When pulling force is applied and then released, the maximum load value and how quickly it was reached determine the tear strength of that particular material. You can make use of this testing machine to test the tearing strength of the material. By using our testing instrument, you can ensure to deliver high-quality products for our applications while minimizing unexpected failures due to inferior quality or low tear resistance properties of materials used in manufacturing components or finished goods.

To run this testing machine efficiently, you can install it by unpacking your machine and ensuring you have all the components provided. You can then start with the preparation of the specimen by taking a standard template and preparing the specimens with it. After that, you can cut the WARP SET with a short dimension parallel to weft yarns and the WEFT SET with a short dimension parallel to warp yarns. While cutting the test specimens take care to align the yarns running in a short direction parallel to the template. Each specimen of warp set should have different warp yarns and each specimen of weft set should have different weft yarns. You can prepare at least ten specimens of each type. Before starting the test, you must make sure to level the testing machine properly with the help of spirit level & adjustable footrests – 03 Nos. You can also check the friction in pendulum bearings. Once you check all the necessary parameters of this testing machine, then you can commence the test. To know about the tearing strength tester price, you can give us a call.

Features of Tearing Strength Tester

Tearing strength testers are an important tool for many industries, including the textile industry. These testers can be used to test various materials and determine their tearing strength. It will help to ensure that your products meet safety standards. To optimize production processes determine how much force is needed during manufacturing processes, which helps companies save money by reducing waste material and time spent on producing products with low quality. Thus, this testing instrument helps manufacturers to deliver high-quality products to their customers. Here we have created a list of several features of tearing strength tester.

  • The unit of measurement is “mN” i.e. mega newton.
  • The laboratory equipment comprises a falling pendulum to cover various angles.
  • The instrument is supplied with cutting templates, a board, and a cutting knife for preparing a sample for the test.
  • There is start and stop functions to hold the pendulum for safety.
  • The test parameters include peak load, median load, and tearing strength.
  • The procedure is done to determine tearing strength that involves a cut in the center. An opposing tail, known as the “tongue” is duly clamped in the instrument.
  • High-Quality rugged structure with the corrosion-resistant main body
  • Falling pendulum-type instrument
  • Single-handed hassle-free operation
  • Highly accurate test results under multiple pendulum weights
  • Strong gripping fixture for holding test samples
  • Pendulum release mechanism to cover the various measuring range
  • Inbuilt calibration weights

When it comes to materials, there are many things that can determine their quality. One of the most important factors is tearing strength because if a material cannot hold up under stress then it will not be useful for any application. Thus, to test the tearing strength of materials, you can make use of Presto tearing strength tester. This is the consistent testing equipment that will help to determine the tearing strength of the fabrics, plastic films, and similar materials. Tearing Strength Tester is the tearing force required to rupture a pre-slit sample under controlled test conditions. PRESTO Tearing Strength Tester is designed as per standards ASTM D1424-09(2013), ASTM D624-00(2012), ASTM D1776, ASTM D689. This is one of the highest quality testing instruments that will help you to determine the average force required to propagate a single tear starting from a cut in plastics, paper, cardboard, woven fabrics, and non-woven fabrics with proper configuration. The model also meets ASTM standards. Tearing strength tester is laboratory test equipment used to evaluate the average force in grams per sample essential to spread, tearing through a specified length of non-rigid sheets or plastic films. The tester works on the principle of determining the internal tearing resistance, the force perpendicular to the surface of the sheet needed to split multiple plies through a specified area after the rip has been started. The strength of fabrics is calculated by measuring the work done in tearing through a fixed length of test specimens using the Elmendorf Tear Tester.

The test specimen in the shape of a rectangular piece is held between two Jaws, one of which is mounted on the pendulum and the other is mounted on the Vertical Arm. The Jaws clamps are mounted in such a manner that their holding faces are aligned with each other when the pendulum is locked in its raised position. An adjustable knife is also mounted on the Vertical Arm. It is centered between the two Jaws for making the initial slit in the test specimen. The pendulum is released by lifting a brake release lever. This action causes the test specimen to tear. The tearing strength is indicated on a calibrated scale fitted on the pendulum by a pointer. A Set of calibrated check weights are supplied with the tester for Verification of the scale at 1600, 3200, and 6400 grams of capacities. Our tearing strength tester can be helpful in determining whether materials are strong enough for their intended use. When it comes to making clothing and other products that will need to withstand normal wear and tear, knowing how much weight they can hold without breaking is important.

Testing the tearing strength of materials is a critical step in ensuring that you are creating products that will stand up to the rigors of daily use. The standard for testing materials with high tensile strength values is ASTM D1424-09(2013), ASTM D624-00(2012), ASTM D1776, ASTM D689. In order to increase the capacity of the tester, from 1600 grams augmenting weights of 3200 grams & 6400 grams are supplied as standard Accessories. For testing of low-strength materials, multiple specimens may be mounted at the same time. When you test the tearing strength of the materials with Presto tearing strength tester, then this process will be less time-consuming and you will get quick results of material testing. Thus, you can easily rely on this testing instrument to get accurate testing results.
